Durability
LEDs don’t just allow a nicely shaped unit because they have no need for a huge reflecting mirror,
but some of their other specifications make them even more qualified for use on a motorcycle.
Think about turn signals or taillights.
The lower energy consumption won’t be our primary reason, but what about vibrations?
LEDs won’t be bothered, unlike bulbs. They last 30 to 50 times longer too,
which means you’ll never ever have to replace them.
Remember how your parents used to forbid you to play with the light switch because it makes the filament break?
They were right, you know.
Now imagine what a turn signal bulb has to endure...
Safety
LEDs make you more visible too.
Where as a bulb shines in all directions,
a LED has a certain opening angle that helps to diffuse the light only towards other traffic participants.
Another advantage is that the response time of a LED is very fast.
It needs only microseconds to achieve full brightness.
The filament in a light bulb requires some time to warm up and cool down,
thus blurring the signal you want to send out.
The very short on/off time of the LEDs makes the signal instantly noticeable and therefore much safer.
